He defended that investment in training would be essential for achieving the growth of electronic commerce on the continent.
“A large-scale infrastructure investment must be accompanied by viable policies and strategies, both nationally and regionally, and Africa's accelerated transformation will also be fueled by digital technologies,” he said.
He added that “we must close the digital divide, particularly in terms of gender, to ensure true inclusion and to truly unlock the potential of the fourth industrial revolution”.
For him, the 2023 forum on sustainable development would have renewed momentum to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2063 Agenda.
He added that the African Continental Free Trade Area agreement is the framework under which Africa can guarantee a transformation of African property.
“It will be a time to discuss how the 28 national African Continental Free Trade Area strategies that have been completed so far with our support and under the leadership of the African Union Commission can be integrated into the work of UN country teams,” he said.
In turn, the vice president of the African Union Commission, Monique Nsanzabaganwa, encouraged the forum to articulate concrete proposals on SDGs and Agenda 2063.
“The implementation of both agendas should be based on implementation plans that are African-owned and designed at the continental, regional, national and local levels”, said Nsanzabaganwa, arguing that it is necessary to “drastically increase the funding available for the SDGs and the Agenda 2063 and these discovery needs are also to address climate resilience.”
“We need to go beyond development aid, and that is at the heart of the green recovery action plan”, he shot.
