The President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, was awarded the Amílcar Cabral medal, the highest distinction of the Guinean State, as part of a visit of a few hours recently carried out in Guinea-Bissau.

"I want to express my profound recognition and honor for having received the medal from Amílcar Cabral. It is a privilege for me, as an African, and also for my country. It reminds us to continue to strengthen unity and prosperity in our two countries. ", said Paul Kagame.
The President of Rwanda also said that he had a productive meeting with Umaro Sissoco Embaló, during which cooperation between the two countries and the need to build it on "solid foundations" were addressed.
"As in the rest of Africa, the most important resource that Rwanda and Guinea-Bissau have is their youth. We must create an enabling environment for our young people to achieve their goals", he said.
Kagame also highlighted the work for regional stability that Umaro Sissoco Embaló has carried out as acting president of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
The President of Guinea-Bissau thanked Paul Kagame for the efforts he "has made for Africa" and for the "considerable support he has given to Guinea-Bissau".
Umaro Sissoco Embaló, who visited Rwanda last year, also highlighted that President Paul Kagame's visit represents an "important and remarkable step" in strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
