"It's to make it known that we prevent history from repeating itself," said Borne, whose Jewish father was deported and then committed suicide when she was 11. In an unusual procedure, the French Government's plan explicitly includes combating discrimination against Roma and Roma people.

During their schooling, each student will have to participate in "visiting a historic site or memorial related to racism, anti-Semitism or anti-Gypsy", because "it is from childhood that stereotypes can be established", declared the French Chief Executive.

The new 2023-2026 plan foresees a series of measures that affect sectors ranging from Education to Employment, Justice and Sport. It aims to detect and combat discrimination in employment, companies, school, transport and other areas and "develop tools" with digital platforms and influencers.

Support for complaints by all those who are victims of hate speech in transport, for example, is planned for March and the plan will also focus on access to housing to "highlight good practices and denounce bad ones".
