The holding of a high-level meeting, which brought together President Joe Biden and his African counterparts, was the highest point of the Summit, which aimed to promote a new economic engagement of the United States in Africa and reinforce its commitment on the continent. regarding democracy and human rights, mitigating the impact of Covid-19 and future pandemics, and strengthening regional and global health. As topics at this meeting, highlight the partnership for Agenda 2063: the African Union's strategic vision for the continent, the deepening of multilateralism with Africa to meet global challenges and the promotion of food security and resilient food systems.
The summit was marked by the announcement by the United States of several million dollars to support various projects in Africa, in addition to the availability of 500 million dollars from the International Development Finance Corporation of the USA, of which 370 million for new projects, 100 million for increase access to clean, reliable energy for millions of consumers in sub-Saharan Africa, 20 million to finance fertilizers, mainly for smallholder farmers and women farmers, 10 million to support small and medium-sized enterprises and help provide clean water.
The US President also announced USD 350 million for the digital transformation of the continent, as well as the facilitation of another USD 450 million in funding as a whole, including collaboration with institutions such as Microsoft, allowing access to 5 million Africans. , as part of that multinational's commitment to reach 100 million people by 2025.
