Nigerian tycoon Aliko Dangote has maintained his position as Africa's richest man. In the 2023 Forbes ranking, dominated by South Africans, Dangote has a wealth valued at $13.6 billion.

With Dangote Group, the Nigerian billionaire dominates the sugar market in Nigeria, being the main supplier (70 percent of the market) to the country's soft drinks, breweries and confectionery companies. The company employs over eleven thousand people in West Africa.
