Ethiopia is the only African country with its own alphabet, letters and numbers.
Politics and Society March 14, 2023
The Ethiopian alphabet, the oldest in the world, consists of 26 letters, all representing consonants, which can be turned into syllabic symbols by adding appropriate vowel markers to the letters.
They are known as Ethiopians. The 26 letters are derived from 24 of the 28 letters of Sheba.
In addition to being the only African country with its own alphabet, letters and numbers, it is also one of the few that still follows its own calendar and has a 13th month, made up of leftover dates.
While Christians observe Christmas on the 25th of December, Ethiopians observe it on the 7th of January.
