The Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry, Ahmed Samir, announced that trade with African countries totaled US$2.117 billion in the first quarter of this year.

The minister said that Egyptian commodity exports to the African continent totaled US$1.611 billion, while Egyptian imports from the continent totaled US$506 million.
Samir said that the ministry is working to achieve economic integration between African countries, overcome obstacles that may hinder the flow of trade between the countries, as well as benefit from trade agreements signed between Egypt and the continent's countries and economic blocs. , such as the COMESA Agreement and the African Continental Free Trade Agreement, and to expand participation in specialized fairs and increase the presence of Egyptian commercial companies in many African countries.
The president of the General Organization for Export and Import Control, Essam Al-Naggar, stated that the top five receiving markets for Egyptian exports are Libya at US$ 317 million, Sudan at US$ 226 million, Algeria at US$ 217 million, Morocco at US$ 191 million and Tunisia at US$ 226 million.
Al-Naggar added that the most prominent Egyptian exports to the African continent in the first quarter of 2023 included construction materials (US$422 million), chemicals and fertilizers (US$358 million), food industries (US$242 million) , engineering and electronics ($185 million), medical industries ($103 million), printing, packaging, paper, books and artwork ($98 million), agricultural crops ($80 million), spinning and textiles ($47 million) million), furniture ($24 million), furniture ($18 million), ready-to-wear ($15 million), and crafts ($14 million).
