The President of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, announced the construction of a gas pipeline, which will connect the country to Italy, with the aim of increasing exports of gas, hydrogen, ammonia and electricity.

"We signed the agreement of intention to start the study and, subsequently, the construction of a private gas pipeline, different from the one that currently exists", said the President of Algeria, in a joint press conference with the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, in Algiers.
Tebboune added that the new structure will be used for gas, hydrogen, ammonia and electricity. "It is an important project, which transforms Italy into an energy distributor for the whole of Europe", he stressed. He said that the entry into operation of this gas pipeline will be "short term".
