Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky "agreed to receive the African mission and heads of state in both Moscow and Kiev," said Ramaphosa, who says he held "separate phone calls" with Putin and Zelensky at the weekend, where he presented an initiative drawn up by Zambia, Senegal, Republic of Congo, Uganda, Egypt and South Africa.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the African Union (AU) were briefed on the initiative and welcomed it, added Ramaphosa.
Ramaphosa did not give a specific timeline for the visit or other details, saying only that the conflict was "devastating" and Africa "is also suffering a lot" from it.
The announcement came a day after Ramaphosa said South Africa was under "extraordinary pressure" to choose sides in the conflict, following accusations by the United States that Pretoria was supplying Moscow with arms, a move that would breach its declared neutrality.
Ramaphosa said the African initiative received "cautious support" in Washington and in several European capitals visited by "facilitators" tasked with presenting the plan.
